Is there one freaking happy indie comic out there? I've read several recently...ones about everyday lives and relationships... but for some reason it seems every relationship and situation must end on a negative note. Like they're all trying to be deep and shocking. Like if I don't cry and want to slit my wrists, it wasn't "realistic" enough. I'm not saying every story has to have a happy ending - but can't one?

Sure indie can be fun, Bone is extremely lighthearted. Also, I like to think the comic Adumb and I do is pretty fun. Have you ever seen it? I should post pages here.
I think that stuff is out there but when you have a whole field that is widely ignored, I'm sure it's hard for the creators to keep chipper. I mean, if you wrote something really awesome and everyone threw it aside to get the latest glossy printed copy of Dark Initiative or whatever the hell Marvel is calling its throw away titles these days, wouldn't you feel a little down?

What's Bone about?

Its about these three cute little cartoon characters that get kicked out of their town after one of them acts like a dick and they get thrown into a crazy epic Lord of the Rings style adventure with lazy Dragons, cow-racing Grandmothers, and of course, giant rat beasts. It's really good and still pretty lighthearted.

I didn't think Sin City was that depressing, just badass and it's indy. There's plenty of Indy stuff that isn't depressing. You just have to dig around for it. Firebreather was pretty lighthearted and good in an Invincible type of way, except moreso.

Assuming Image counts as Indie, Casanova was one of the most fun comics I have ever read and I can't wait for it to come back.
Similarly, Gabriel Ba's other book over at Dark Horse, The Umbrella Academy has been a fun book as well.
And back over to Image, though so far not as good as the two books above, Jersey Gods has been a fairly light romance story, though not yet as light, funny, or romantic as it promised to be.

I remember Bone. I use to read that back in the day.
Wish I had the budget to pick up more Indie books. I refuse to download Indieo comics.

I'm pretty sure Free Comic Book Day is actully the best deal in comics...oh and Madman is quite a fun indy read that is lighthearted and innovative.

I'd rather pay 40 bucks for the complete bone than have went to a comic book store and been grateful to have the store and company pay for the one comic they gave me. Imagine you get stuck on an island, would you rather have one comic you got for free or the entire Bone story that you at one point paid 40 dollars for? The choice is easy for me.
