I wouldn't even mention this issue but I did a quick check on it because I heard someone mention Batman shows up.
Kinda blows away all the other Titans issues, but thats not saying much. Art was by the Ed Benes poser from JLA, but seem to do a bit better when he isn't apeing Benes.
Makes sense that Garth would talk to Dick since both are stepping up to their mentors shoes.
Didn't really expect them to kill off Garth's wife and baby.
Blacket Night tie in issue too if anyone cares.

i really liked this issue. I've always had an unexplainable soft spot for Garth even though I've never cared much for Aquaman. I'd be more interested in seeing a book with Garth running Atlantis than to see Orin return, but I don't expect to get much more than this issue and a little of Blackest Night.

I finally read the issue and I must say that I am impressed. Titans has been a downer for a while now but if more story's like this come out I will keep on reading.

This is a series I want to like. I stuck it out for Dick Grayson but once he bailed so did I.
Did anyone like the last Titans series that Devin Grayson started that had Jesse Quick, Argent, and Damage along with the old crew?

I skipped Devon's run and when I wanted to read about the Titans again I picked up the Graduation Day that ended that until the double relaunch and now leads me to this issue.

Some of her ideas on run were good and I liked the choices for new members (Argent, Damage, and Jesse Quick), but other ideas like Dick leaving every other issue or the out of character moments made it less than stellar. I think issue #2's fight with the HIVE, #13's issue where Nightwing pisses everyone off at a post battle meeting, and #14's issue(co-wrote with Brian K Vaughn) where Tempest leads the rescue team for Omen were example's of Devin doing some of her best.

After reading this I'm not so sure that DC wants to bring back Orin anymore. Perhaps Garth will be the new Aquaman after Blackest Night has settled? On the other hand they did try to create a new Aquaman which didn't swim (no pun intended) to good with the fans (what happened to him anyway?). So why should they try it with another new guy under the identity when they have the opportunity to bring Orin back in Blackest Night?
It's cool that they didn't forget Garth for Blackest Night.

Its cool they didn't forget Garth for Blackest Night but where the fuck has he been since Infinite Crisis? Oh, I think I read somewhere on a Blackest Night review or article that Garth was around at the end of the OYL's Aquaman's series. Was anyone even reading that anyways. He didn't even pop up for the Titans relaunch.

He didn't even pop up for the Titans relaunch. I read it and it was actually quite entertaining, despite of what they did to Garth (they practically took away all of his powers and he had to wear a suit to breath under water). It was a pretty fun and lighthearted book with a lot of humour, especially when Tad Williams wrote it. I guess it just didn't appeal to the mass audience, though.

I guess it didn't appeal to many people, since it got cancelled.
Sounds kinda lame. Tempest needing a suit to breath underwater is like Cyborg being all human or Batman without pointy ears.

Whatever happened to that OYL Aquaman. He uh, "realized he wasn't up to it?" Is that seriously the only explanation to what happened to him or was his story wrapped up at the end of Sword of Atlantis?

He was so lame he got bumped from Batman and the Outsiders as well during the mysterious rewrite.

No it actually wasn't explained and it wasn't even mentioned before this issue of Titans that he left. This issue sounded like a message from DC editorial for me: We won't be seeing the new Aquaman in the foreseeable future. You should have read the series. The new Aquaman actually wasn't that lame. He just had a completely different concept behind him then Orin. He was more of a lighthearted happy go lucky hero than a grim king. A little bit like the new Blue Beetle (who I also like despite my fondness for Ted Kord).

I remember the new aquaman was kinda like a swash buckler type of character that had more fantasy type of story's.

All I know is Aquaman right before Infinite Crisis actually kind of rocked.
