...
But--
I'm distraught. I never thought contributing my money to this mess would have such disastrous consequences. It's partly my fault...

Well, as much I wasn't a huge Winnick fan and didn't like a lot of his stories, he always seemed to do right by me with Dick Grayson. I enjoyed the later Outsiders stuff even with the lame direction and his Batman stuff post War Games/Pre Infinite Crisis was good.
The Battle for the Cowl epilogue was good and the preview with Bagley also caught my interest........
But I'm excited to see what Tony can do. Everyone points to 'Battle for the Cowl', and even on TD's blog he says it wasn't a story but more of piece of the 3 characters. BftC would have been hard for any writer, because it was "filler" no matter how you slice it. People, including myself, had high hopes for it but it became obviously quickly that the mini wasn't going to steal Morrison's thunder for Batman and Robin, and rightfully so. I think some interesting plot ideas where thrown out there in BftC so if TD picks up on those and we get some continuation, then awesome.
Plus I like that he's keeping with the idea of the Two-Face/Batman look. Could Harvey be Batman's Joker?

If you look at Nightwing's last run you could see the set up of Harvey getting some serious mad hate for Dick. Also they have a very long and nasty history that will add to the conflict.

I agree that Harvey has been built up to be Dick's archnemesis for quite some time given recent history, especially the end of the Nightwing series, but I wouldn't say he's there yet as what Joker was to Bruce. To be that guy that always gets under his skin.

Yeah, I almost feel like this whole Dick/Harvey bit is forced. Bruce and the Joker have completely different outlooks on life that drives them to individually be the perfect antithesis of the other. With Dick and Harvey, it's not as deep. Harvey beat the crap out of Dick when he was little because it was advantageous for him to do so at the time. Dick, understandably, has never gotten over this and will never be able to see any redemption in Harvey the way Bruce was always searching for. Without Bruce, and with a Batman who only sees the worst in him, Harvey will likely embrace his dark side in a way he never has before. It should make for some interesting stories, being that Harvey does seem to be able to get under Dick's skin and get past his usual cool, calm, and lighter demeanor, but it's for personal reasons, and therefore not as epic as the Bruce/Joker relationship which boils down to the battle between order and chaos.

I really wasn't going that deep with a Dick/Harvey vs. Bruce/Joker. I just think Two Face could become that villian that is known with Dick, like Bruce is with the Joker. You're right Kris, it'll never be as epic to have TwoFace fight Dick as Bruce and Joker, but it will make for interesting story telling. Personally I'd be ready to knock off the head of the guy who took a bat to me as a kid anytime I saw him. TwoFace was knocking grandslams off a Robin's skull long before Joker started crowbaring them.
As long as DC doesn't retro in a Batman Forever style take that TwoFace murdered Dick's parents, all should be well.

Haha, if Tony Daniel starts drawing Dick to look like Chris O'Donnell in the same way that Gary Frank draws Superman to look like Christopher Reeve, then we know we're in trouble.

Wow, that was a pretty horrible image.
I rewatched Batman Forever a few weeks ago besides not even looking the part, O'Donnell made a horrible Dick Grayson.

Honestly with the last Batman issue I really will be sad to see Judd go. Right now both Batman and Batman and Robin are kicking ass. Add in a lesbian Batwoman to spice it up with safe Dini stories and some emo Tim and you have a great mix.

Maybe if TD starts slipping on deadlines he could tagteam with Judd.

I'm one of those who actually liked Battle for the Cowl. It wasn't the greatest Batman story ever told but it was a good and fun read. So I'm looking forward to see what Tony can do on a run on Batman. I have to admit that I'm a little dissapointed to see Judd Winick leave. He did a very good job on his first two issues of Batman. He is hit or miss with me and he was more miss in the last couple of years, but he does seem to get Batman right most of the time.

Somehow Judd screws the pooch on everything else except his Batman work. If you factor out whatever degree you hate Jason Todd or how he came back, his issues of Batman pre Infinite Crisis were really good. The last couple of issues I think suffered from that horrible Eric Battle art, but most of his run was illustrated by Doug Mahnke or Shane Davis. How do you go wrong with that?

Judd will be back after the arc with a new artist DD: Tony’s in for his arc, and then we have Judd back for another story, with a different artist as Mark is moving to Justice League.www.newsarama.com/comics/070916-Dan20.html

Well, it sounded like Tony would be staying for a while longer on Batman from what he did post on his blog. I'm really interested in what direction Judd is going to take Batman further after reading his first two issues. His run started out very good if you ask me.
