I just read this and all I have to say is: awesome. I want more. This event looks like it's going to be something really big. The Hawks dying was pretty shocking, but I have the feeling that we'll see both of them alive again after Blackest Night in some way (either through reincarnation or the Black Lanterns being all turned alive again after the event). We will have some big consequences for the DCU after the event is over in some form, I'm sure of it!
But it seems like the Black Lanterns won't be mindless zombies afterall and retain some of their personality from when they were alive. At least that's what Ralph and Sue Dibny make you believe.

Ok so shit really hit the fan for all of the Sea heros. Tempest got turned into a Black Lantern and that pretty much made his last issue of Titans to be just silly now. Also the Spectre is now a Black Lantern that wants Hal. Also there was a pretty cool section about how messed up the Black Hand is or should I say was.

Hmm I suck. Two days and not a word about this? No wonder we have a problem keeping posting up.
Anyways. This issue was pretty awesome. It's sort of funny how little we saw Black Hand considering how much emphasis Johns put on him before the event started, after Blackest Night #1 though, all the emphasis was put on Martian Manhunter. Also, we got E2 Superman on the cover and I was kind of thinking he'd be a bigger deal but he wasn't even really in the issue which is something that always bugs the living shit out of me. Ignoring the shit I expected to see though, there was some good stuff here. Spectre Zombie? Epic. Phantom Stranger? Can never hurt to have him in that shit. I also really liked the fight scene between Hal, Barry, and Jonn even though by this point I feel is a little bloated, it got what three issues to play out? And still, STILL it's not even done yet. Unheard of in the Sinestro Corps War days. Props to the creative team for making Mera seem badass as well. I never thought I'd be saying that since she's usually either portrayed as semi retarded, a bitch, or a combination of the two.
Also, what happened to the Atom!? Is he dead? Say it ain't so!

So far the whole crossover is building up nicely. Even though I thought the Batman and Titans titles were kind of lacking (this is probably partly because of the art on both books which I found pretty bad). The Superman issue was pretty intense, though.
Tempest being killed by Aquaman was a little bit of a shock to me. But I guess we will see many more deaths like this with most, if not all, of the people who became Black Lanterns coming back from the dead again.
I especially loved that Don Hall couldn't be resurrected because he was at peace. It was a pretty cool scene. Combined with Zombie Hank Hall not being able to analyse the emotion "peace" of Dove makes me think that the Indigo Tribe is what will tip the balance into favour of the living.

While I still enjoy the book, its different than the Crisis event books how its not jamming a zillion characters into each issue. Issue #3 was basically more Hal, Barry, and now Ray Palmer vs. the Zombie League with some of the Indigo Lanterns and Firestorm.
Although 3 issues in(4 if you count the 0 issue) and not as much has happened or been revealed.
