Remember the ol' "Dirty Dibny?" I move that we call the brutal death of a beloved character a "Dead Dibny."
(Stupid zombie Dibnys!)
Hey, I wonder if the Ghost Detective Dibnys will come back to confront the Black Lantern Dibnys...? That'd be a nice twist!

Dirty Dibny... wasn't I the one throwing around that distasteful term back in the DC2 days?
Btw, this book... It rocks. It rocks hard.

So tales of the corps also came out and it was not much of story progression but we got to see the indigo lanterns and they are a bit of a wild card.

Dirty Dibny... wasn't I the one throwing around that distasteful term back in the DC2 days? Only you could have coined that term. It did rock pretty hard ;D. Other than the Hawks getting Dead Dibnyed. That part was hard to read. I had the same feeling in the pit of my stomach as I did when I read Prime beating E2 Superman to death, or Karate Kid dying after his fight with Nemesis Kid... Hard to watch long-cherished icons get bruatlized. Still, Johns gets that I think (I hope!) and won't bobble the ending as he's done on most other major projects (52 and Sinestro Corps War being notable exceptions--- everything else being the examples). And Ivan Reis' work was damned beautiful, a career best, maybe. You guys'll cover this on the podcast, I'm sure.

I loved Guy's "WTF?" reaction when he, Kyle, and the other GL's saw all the former GL's turned Black Lanterns.
Is it bad that Martian Manhunter looks more badass dead than he did alive?

I found Ralph and Sue Dibny to be the most creepy so far of the Black Lanterns.

Blackest Night certainly feels like a DC Universe event book, with its heavy references to other big events over the past several years. I think it did a good job balancing out connections to the recent past and building a foundation for the future. But it's very clear now that Blackest Night is going to be a big story as it deserves to be.

Blackest Night > Marvel Zombies. I agree. I haven't even had the chance to read it yet, but BN will blow MZ out of the WATER.

Holy Shit, the Hawks were brutally murdered--- by the goddamned Dibneys! I mean, bashed-in-the-face-with-a-mace, heart-ripped-from-chest murdered...! Motherfuckingsonofabitchcocksuckingmotherfuckers! I don't know how it possibly can, but this better end well. I want Aquaman (the real one) back, I want J'onn J'onzz and I want Carter (though I get the feeling I'm gonna get Katar, which won't suck, but still...)--- fuck Batman and his pointy ears and stupid cape, I could care less what they do with him (not exactly true, but I am on a tear). Loved it when Scar ripped out the throat and heart of that other Guardian. Can't wait until Scar and Ganthet throw down (you know it's coming). Midget slapfight! Ah, well. I need a drink. And how about Jean being the only one to ever make the Atom feel small? I loved that line. Ray Palmer is such a great character.
